Best known for hearty red wines based on Syrah, Grenache and others, with a wine history certainly going back to the 14th Century, and at least by local legend, to the Romans. The red wines of the Southern Rhone are blended from Grenache, Syrah, Mourvedre, Carignan, and Cinsaut while the white wines are blended from Ugni Blanc, Roussanne, Bourboulenc, Picpoul, and Clairette. Our 2005 Thunder is fruit forward with explosion of flavors of casis, smoky bacon and spicy pepper, thus the name.
